Eugene "Mercury" Morris (1947-2024)

Mercury was the man for the historic undefeated 1972 Dolphins team, rushing for 1,000 yards and 12 touchdowns.

The 1972 Miami Dolphins team is still to this date almost 50 years later the only team to go undefeated and have a PERFECT season.

Morris was key in the Dolphins repeating at Super Bowl champs, rushing for 954 yards and another double-digit touchdown tally with 10.

An original Miami Dolphin, Morris was selected in the 3rd Round in the 1969 AFL-NFL Common Draft, Coming out of West Texas State. Morris earned All-American accolades twice during his time shining in the 1967 and 1968 seasons as a Buffalo. Morris and O.J. Simpson at USC were the two top backs at their time in college, where he finished second nationally in rushing yards to OJ in 1967.
