(Miami Gardens) --
Finally... THE DOLPHINS PAID THE MAN!
The Miami Dolphins and Tua Tagovailoa have agreed on a 4-year, $212.4 Million extension, with $167 Million Guaranteed!
The lefty gunslinger will earn $53.1 annually, the largest annual and collective sum in the Dolphins' long-storied history.
This solidifies the Dolphins' commitment to their star QB, and with the synergy now between Tua and HC Mike McDaniel, Tua may be able to blossom to even higher heights.
Tua has proven that he is and can be THAT GUY!
Last year, in full motion, under the tutelage of his Head Coach, offensive genius Mike McDaniel, Tua led the NFL with 4,624 yards passing yards, the third most in Dolphins' franchise history behind The Legend Dan Marino's previous 5,084 passing mark in 1984 and his 1986 season passing for over 4.746 yards.
Miami has shown that they will continue to get speedy reliable weapons all around Tua to keep their high-octane offense running smoothly and swiftly. The Dolphins have added a veteran play-making pass catcher in Odell Beckham, pairing him with two of the league's most electric receivers, Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.
There had been some consternation in the air with Tua's future with the Dolphins, highlighted by previous perceived riffs and misunderstandings with former head coach Brian Flores and previous talks about Deshaun Watson possibly coming to Miami Gardens, with Watson ultimately ending in Cleveland.
Tua thanked team owner Stephen Ross, GM Chris Grier, Head Coach Mike McDaniel, and his agent for getting the deal done.
It's a good time for Dolphins' fans knowing that the ink has been dried in the early days of training camp and now everyone can move forward with a shared sense of accountability on both ends knowing that Miami has committed to the future with their star QB still projected at the helm.
