Cutting To 53!

5:09 am in Preseason, Roster by jillian

Sparano has been cutting away to get down to that magic number 53. He’s managed to obstain from cutting outside linebacker Matt Roth by putting him on the reserve/non-football injury list. This means that Roth will be not be elgible to pratcice or play for at least six weeks. This reserve/ non-football injury list means Roth has been injured somehow but off the field, not in practice or game, and off Sparano’s clock. However, the players that were cut by Head Coach Tony Sparano were safety Courtney Bryan, offensive tackle Brandon Frye, linebacker William Kershaw, wide receiver Brandon London, cornerback Joey Thomas, defensive end Rodrique Wright, offensive lineman Nate Garner, cornerback Will Billingsley, defensive lineman Ryan Baker, offensive guard/center Mark Lewis, linebacker J.D. Folsom, wide receiver James Robinson and like previously noted outside linebacker Matt Roth.

Sparano says of cutting his team that ”It’s a very tough day, it really is,” “It’s a tough day when you have somebody that has worked as hard as these players have worked and you have to tell him that he can’t be part of what you’re doing and there’s a lot of sensitivity there. So I certainly appreciate everything that they’ve done for us and just wish them luck, so it’s a hard deal.” Yeah I suppose it’s hard for all players and coaches involved to watch someone be cut and possibly not be back on the field. However, changes to the roster have been made before, but I wouldn’t hold my breath on that chance. Good luck guys!
